Lessons

It is a truly special experience to sit behind an old school desk in front of a Miss Teacher or Mister Teacher with their stern voices. Teachers dressed in the fashion of a bygone era and holding the obligatory rod evoke the atmosphere of a school of yesteryear. Do you want to relive what school used to be like? Welcome to “living history”!

Check out a wide range of historical lessons.

From the early 19th century onwards, introductory and revision Sunday School courses were organised on Sundays and holidays, as many village children were unable to attend classes during the week due to their preoccupation with other work and their distance from school. In Sunday School, they learned to write, read, and do arithmetic and were also taught about manners, order, and discipline. Blaže and Nežica in Sunday School by Anton Martin Slomšek was an important textbook from the period.

Learning Objectives:

– Students count to ten and solve simple word problems,
– They learn the song Ljuba vigred by A. M. Slomšek.
