We attended a gathering of museum professionals in Škofja Loka
We attended the gathering of museum professionals in Škofja Loka. The event, organised by the Slovenian Museum Association and the Škofja Loka Museum, took place on 29 and 30 September.
More than 170 museum professionals from across Slovenia came together to discuss a topical issue: Organised depots, accessible collections: Organisation and accessibility of storage facilities in practice.

To begin with, the participants were addressed by Maja Hakl Saje, the President of the Slovenian Museum Association, Saša Nabergoj, the Director of the Škofja Loka Museum, Tine Radinja, the Mayor of Škofja Loka, and Matevž Čelik Vidmar, a State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture. Examples of good practice were presented; opinions were shared, and recommendations for the careful conservation of cultural heritage were expressed.
The General Assembly of the Slovenian Museum Association was also held, at which our curator Marjetka Balkovec Debevec, a long-standing member of the Valvasor Awards Commission, which she also chaired in 2022-2025, presented the activities of the Commission, new developments and some changes. She emphasised that the entire team is dedicated to their work in a harmonious atmosphere. The Commission’s work has a far-reaching impact on the museum profession and the recognition of outstanding achievements in museums.

The General Assembly also held elections for new members of the Commission. We are delighted that Anton Arko, a new representative of the Slovenian School Museum, will fulfil in this honourable and responsible function in the future.
