The Slovenian School Museum at the Festival of Antiquity
The Slovenian School Museum will take part in the Festival of Antiquity, which will be held as part of the European Researcher’s Night project: Human(e) AI.
When? Friday, 27 September 2024, between 9 am and 2 pm
Where? Foerster’s Garden Ljubljana; in case of bad weather at the Faculty of Arts.
As part of the Festival of Antiquity, the Slovenian School Museum will hold the Ancient Emona lesson.
The lesson will be given by Master Quintus Caelius Kallikrates. The complexity of the lesson will be at the basic level of education as we know it from that era. It will be taught mainly in Slovenian, but partly also in Latin. Pupils will learn the basics of the Latin language in writing and pronunciation, as well as Roman numerals, which they will write on wax tablets with a metal stylus.
About the Festival of Antiquity
The Festival of Antiquity consist of interactive workshops and lectures on the language, culture and civilisation of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome for primary and secondary school pupils and students. It introduces us to the Roman heritage in our region, to ancient mythological themes and their reception, and touches upon this year’s theme of the Human(e) AI project, i.e. artificial intelligence and its role in research work in the field of classical languages and culture.
