Museum staff are strengthening their skills to provide high-quality care for people with cognitive disabilities

We aim to make the museum accessible to everyone, which is why we also include vulnerable individuals among our target groups. We pay close attention to making adjustments, while also continuously pursuing professional development to ensure we are as well-equipped as possible to work with vulnerable groups and provide the most inclusive museum experience possible.
On Thursday, June 11, 2026, museum staff attended a professional training session on guiding individuals with cognitive disabilities. The lecturer, Ms. Vojka Lipovšek Polc from the Sožitje Association, drew on her many years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the needs of this vulnerable group to explain the specifics of working with people with disabilities. Using practical examples, she explained ways to communicate with them and provided guidance on how to ensure a safe and accessible museum experience.
As the long-standing chair of the Commission for Lifelong Learning at the Sožitje Association, she emphasized that lifelong learning plays a crucial role in the daily lives and personal development of vulnerable groups.
The professional training equipped us with practical guidelines and gave us new momentum to continue our efforts toward creating an inclusive museum.
